“You more than anyone else deserve to be loved and happy. Do not remain in any relationship that robs you of those two things.”—Nancy Arroyo Ruffin, Letters to My Daughter: A Collection of Short Stories and Poems about Love, Pride, and Identity (via quotes-shape-us)

How can i study for the major exams? Do u have any tips? My exam is in October and I want to get my momentum as soon as possible. Thank u:)
So good of you start planning now, you’ll thank yourself so much by the time october comes around! Basically I think with exams, the best thing to do is to start early. I know in the past I’ve not studied until a couple of days before and I’m trying to cram a term-full of knowledge into my brain. And while that technique sometimes works, you don’t ever really understand the information and it can get stressful. I’ve worked on it enough and I’ve found that what really helps is as soon as you learn something knew, write it down. So during class/lecture compile your notes together and then as soon as you get home, re-write them in a more comprehensive way and ensure you actually understand the information you’ve been given. If you don’t, write down some questions, research them and if that still doesn’t help, go back to your teacher with your questions. The point of doing this is so that from the ground up, you have a nice basis of knowledge that you understand. Through understanding it comes the remembering of it. I know in a subject if I’m not understanding and im just rote learning things, it is so much more difficult to remember. However, the times where I’ve got a really good grip on the subject, I find i remember the information so much more.
Do not leave your revision to the last week. Write/type your notes up as soon as you’re given them. Re-read them to make sure you understand. And look back on them throughout the term. This ongoing process of learning and revising is so so so much more effective than a couple of days of reading your notes, stressing yourself out and getting no sleep. In subjects that you need formulas (maths, science etc) have a page where you write down each formula so it’s nice and easy to refer back to.
Best of luck with your exams, start putting things into practice now, so by the time October comes around you’re feeling calm and ready to go. xx
how can i stop worrying so incredibly much about what other people think of me?
This is a very difficult one, because the answer is so simple to say, but can only be achieved with hard work. Basically, the way to stop worrying about what other people think, is to have the confidence to not care anymore.
This can come from changing a few aspects of your life:
1) What is it you worry about? Is it your body, your laugh, your hair, the things you say, the way you walk etc. What is it that you constantly compare about yourself to other people? Now compile a list, from that list decide what you can change and what you cannot. For example, I might not like my voice, unfortunately I cannot change this. However, I might think I’m a little overweight, this is something I can work on. So from your list, I want you to apply one of my favourite little sayings: Accept what you can’t change, change what you can’t accept. List the things that you can ”change” and list the things that you can’t, so therefore the things you must, ”accept”.
2) Work on the things you can change. If you want to become fitter, go out and do it, nobody is stopping you except your own mind. If you want to become more outgoing, talk to new people. Introduce yourself starting with one new person at your school and then another and another. Allow yourself to become the person you want. We spend so much time dreaming, waiting and wishing to be this ideal person we have in our minds, when the fact of the matter is, we can become that person, and the only person holding us back is ourselves. Work on those things you can change. Work hard on them, don’t let yourself give up. I know so many people think that they aren’t worth the effort, but you are. You are worth it, you are worth working for. After changing some aspects you feel insecure about you’re mindset will shift too.
3) Accept the things you cant change. This is possible the hardest thing to do. We all don’t like to think of things as unchangeable or permanent but sometimes, that’s just the truth. Some things we don’t like about ourselves, when you see them written on paper, you realise how small and insignifcant they are compared to the rest of you as a person. I want you to just realise (for example): I can’t change my voice, I can do nothing about it. This is my voice, this will be my voice forever. I can’t fight it, because there can be nothing done about it. So the only thing left to do is, accept it. Why fight a battle you can never win? Wouldn’t it be much nicer to just realise you can’t change something, and instead of fighting that thought, just accepting it? This is something that has to be practiced, and cannot be done within a week.
I hope this helped a little, it will take hard work but it will be worth it. Just learn to accept those things you cant change and change those things you can’t accept about yourself. Big love xx
I know time heals, but I like the pain of missing somebody. It’s sharp and it’s cold and reminds me they were real. Sometimes I don’t want a person to just become another memory, a scar that healed with time. The pain helps keep them as something I have instead of something I had. I know time heals, but what if I don’t want to?
